Chelsea are reportedly planning on offering Everton up to £20million to sign Seamus Coleman next summer.
According to The Sun, Blues boss Jose Mourinho wants to add another defender to his squad and the Portuguese tactician believes that Coleman has the qualities to become the club’s number one right-back.
It is claimed that Mourinho’s scouts think that Coleman would be the perfect replacement for Branislav Ivanovic, who has never preferred to play in that position.
Chelsea, however, will face competition from Manchester United for Coleman’s signature – with the 25-year-old believed to be keen on securing a switch to his boyhood heroes at Old Trafford.
But, Chelsea’s presence in the Champions League could settle the matter as Coleman is said to want to play in Europe’s top competition.
The Everton defender – whose current contract at Goodison Park expires in 2019 – joined The Toffees after being scouted by Mick Doherty, who now works under Mourinho at Chelsea
