Did Danny Welbeck mean to perform dummy during Arsenal’s draw against Tottenham – or did striker miss the ball?

Instead, it was Danny Welbeck who started to trend on Twitter after his dummy – or miss – in the build-up to the 73rd-minute strike at the Emirates Stadium got fans debating on Twitter. After a goalless first-half, Spurs took the lead shortly after the re-start when Nacer Chadli coolly slotted home Erik Lamela’s pass in the 56th minute. But, the home side didn’t take long to restore parity when Mesut Ozil’s smash at goal in the box was blocked by Younes Kaboul before the ball came hurtling towards Welbeck. The England striker then went to shoot but seemingly missed and slipped – or, on the other hand, distracted the Spurs players with a clever dummy – before Oxlade-Chamberlain finished off the attack with a fine goal. Following the equaliser, many supporters took to Twitter to debate about Welbeck’s intentions with his move. While some thought the 23-year-old had demonstrated his class with the superb piece of trickery…
