James Corden's mother is 'fretting' about what to wear when she meets Britain's Queen Elizabeth II.
The
British star is to be honoured with an OBE in the Queen's New Year
Honours list thanks to his work on both the small and silver screen.
Speaking
out after his name was confirmed, James shared his joy at the news. He
was especially vocal about the way his family reacted.
'I'm
thrilled, overwhelmed and honoured to be recognised in such a way. I
feel very lucky to be born in a country where creativity is both
encouraged and valued,' he said in a statement.
'My family are very proud. My mum is already fretting about what to wear.'
James
began his career playing Smithy in hit TV show Gavin & Stacey and
has gone on to star in hit movies including Begin Again and most
recently Disney musical Into the Woods.
2015 is already turning
out to be a big year for him after landing the hosting spot of CBS's The
Late Late Show in the US, taking over from Craig Ferguson. It seems his
duties have already begun after he posted a photo of London, UK, at
night from a plane.
'Ni'night London. I'm gonna miss you very much when I'm away x (sic)' he wrote.
Other
performers joining him on the list are Joan Collins and Kristin Scott
Thomas, who will both be made dames. Four Weddings and a Funeral actress
Kristin couldn't contain her excitement when asked how she feels about
the privilege.
'I am thrilled, astonished and worried that I might suddenly wake up,' she gushed.
James'
former girlfriend Sheridan Smith is also among those who will be
honoured. She took straight to Twitter to thank her fans for their
support upon hearing the exciting news.
'Finally...I can thanku
for your lovely messages! All extremely surreal I know but thank u to
those of u for your kind support.Huge love! (sic)' she gushed.
